Epitalon calculator
Epitalon is a four-amino-acid synthetic version of the pineal extract epithalamin. The human data is Russian and uses the extract, given as 10 mg intramuscular courses to elderly cardiac patients over years.

About the Epitalon math
Epitalon, also spelled Epithalon or Epithalone, is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. Suppliers list it in 10 mg, 20 mg and 50 mg vials, a wider spread of sizes than most peptides, so the same draw lands on different units depending on the vial. The example amount is 2 mg. A 10 mg vial with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 5 mg/mL, so 2 mg is 0.4 mL, or 40 units on a U-100 syringe, with five draws in the vial. A 20 mg vial with 2 mL is 10 mg/mL, so 2 mg is 0.2 mL, or 20 units, and the vial holds ten draws. A 50 mg vial with 5 mL is also 10 mg/mL: 20 units per 2 mg and 25 draws. Put only 2 mL in the 50 mg vial and it is 25 mg/mL, where 2 mg is 0.08 mL, or 8 units. Matching the 20 mg and 50 mg vials at 10 mg/mL keeps the units identical across both sizes.
Epitalon questions
What is the epitalon dosage protocol?
The common protocol is 5 to 10 mg a day subcutaneously for 10 to 20 days, run once or twice a year. The Russian extract studies used 10 mg intramuscular injections in short courses repeated over years. Nothing in people compares doses.
How many units is 10 mg of epitalon?
At 20 mg/mL (50 mg in 2.5 mL) 10 mg is 50 units. At 10 mg/mL (10 mg in 1 mL or 20 mg in 2 mL) 10 mg is a full 100 units. Pick the water volume that keeps the draw under 50 units.
How many units is 2 mg of Epitalon at 20 mg in 2 mL?
20 mg divided by 2 mL is 10 mg/mL. 2 mg divided by 10 mg/mL is 0.2 mL. On a U-100 syringe 0.2 mL is 20 units, and the vial holds 10 such draws.
How much bacteriostatic water for a 50 mg vial of Epitalon?
Any volume the vial holds. 1 mL gives 50 mg/mL, 2 mL gives 25 mg/mL and 3 mL gives 16.7 mg/mL (rounded). A 5 mg draw is 10 units, 20 units or 30 units at those three concentrations.
How many 5 mg draws are in a 10 mg vial of Epitalon?
10 divided by 5 is 2 draws. With 2 mL in the vial (5 mg/mL) each 5 mg draw is a full 1 mL, or 100 units; with 1 mL in the vial (10 mg/mL) each draw is 0.5 mL, or 50 units.
