Unit conversions
Six conversions appear in every reconstitution. Each page has a converter, a table and the one rule to remember.
mcg to mg
Divide by 1,000. 250 mcg = 0.25 mg.
Open →mg to mcg
Multiply by 1,000. 5 mg = 5,000 mcg.
Open →mL to units
Multiply by 100 on U-100, by 40 on U-40.
Open →Units to mL
Divide by 100 on U-100, by 40 on U-40.
Open →mg/mL to mcg/mL
Multiply by 1,000. 2.5 mg/mL = 2,500 mcg/mL.
Open →mL to µL
Multiply by 1,000. 0.1 mL = 100 µL.
Open →IU to mg
No universal factor. What IU measures and why.
Open →The three factors of a thousand
Mass, volume and concentration each step by 1,000 between the units used on peptide labels. 1 mg is 1,000 mcg. 1 mL is 1,000 µL. 1 mg/mL is 1,000 mcg/mL. Syringe units are the odd one out: a U-100 unit is a hundredth of a millilitre, so mL to units is a factor of 100, and U-40 makes it 40. Keeping those four factors straight is the whole of unit conversion for this work.
