Melanotan I calculator

Melanotan I is afamelanotide, a linear alpha-MSH analog that is more selective than MT-2 and does not cause the erections. As Scenesse it is a 16 mg implant placed every 2 months by a clinician.

About the Melanotan I math

Melanotan I, also listed as MT-1 or Afamelanotide, is a synthetic linear analog of a melanocortin peptide, which distinguishes it from the cyclic Melanotan II. It is sold as 10 mg vials. The example draw here is 2 mg, large enough that the solvent volume decides whether it fits a small barrel. A 10 mg vial with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 5 mg/mL. A 2 mg draw is 0.4 mL, or 40 units on a U-100 syringe, and 10 divided by 2 is five draws per vial. With 1 mL in the vial the concentration is 10 mg/mL and 2 mg is 0.2 mL, or 20 units, which fits a 0.3 mL barrel. With 5 mL it is 2 mg/mL and 2 mg is a full 1 mL, or 100 units, the entire barrel of a 1 mL syringe. A 1 mg draw at those three concentrations is 20, 10 and 50 units. Five draws per vial holds in every case, since the draw count is mass divided by mass.

Melanotan I questions

Melanotan 1 dosage for tanning?

Community practice is 0.25 to 1 mg a day for 10 days to 4 weeks with some sun, then 1 to 2 mg a week. The published tanning trials used 0.08 to 0.16 mg/kg a day for 10 days, about 10 times more, and saw only nausea and flushing. Start at 0.25 mg.

What is the difference between melanotan 1 and 2?

MT-1 is selective for the MC1 skin receptor, so it tans without the erections, strong appetite loss and most of the nausea that MT-2 causes. It needs more peptide per dose and works slower. MT-1 is also an approved drug (Scenesse) for a rare light-sensitivity disease; MT-2 is approved nowhere.

How many units is 2 mg of Melanotan I at 10 mg in 2 mL?

10 mg divided by 2 mL is 5 mg/mL. 2 mg divided by 5 mg/mL is 0.4 mL, which is 40 units on a U-100 syringe. The vial holds 5 such draws.

How much bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg vial of Melanotan I?

Any volume the vial holds. 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL, 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL and 3 mL gives 3.33 mg/mL (rounded). A 1 mg draw is 10 units, 20 units or 30 units at those three concentrations.

How many 1 mg draws are in a 10 mg vial of Melanotan I?

10 divided by 1 is 10 draws. With 1 mL of solvent (10 mg/mL) each draw is 0.1 mL, or 10 units; with 2 mL (5 mg/mL) each draw is 0.2 mL, or 20 units.
