mL to units converter
Multiply millilitres by 100 for a U-100 syringe, by 40 for a U-40 syringe. 0.1 mL is 10 units on U-100.

A unit on an insulin syringe is a mark on a scale, not a volume of its own. On the U-100 scale there are 100 marks per millilitre, so each unit is 0.01 mL and the conversion is a multiplication by 100. On the U-40 scale there are 40 marks per millilitre, each unit is 0.025 mL, and the factor is 40.
The barrel size does not change the factor. A 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL and 1 mL U-100 syringe all read 10 units at 0.1 mL; they only differ in where the scale ends (30, 50 or 100) and in how far apart the tick marks sit.
